Before I hit 30, I would like to...

+finish my MLIS or JD.
+live in NYC for at least 2 years. (This would be really tough on a librarian's salary, though!)
+travel internationally...without my family.
+get down to a healthy weight.
+buy my own car.
+host a small dinner party...and cook all the food myself.
+read all of the novels on the Modern Library's Top 100 list. (Many of them are on my bookshelf, but I've only finished 8 of them. This is due to the fact that I've only recently been crazy about the classics.)
+start my novel. (Yes, I want to write a novel. I don't know how long it would be before I deem it worthy of sending to publishers, but I would very much like to start it soon.)

Why is it so much easier to plan for the future than to do the work to get there?
